The LED's are suppose to last 50,000 hours, which equates to about 45 years of use, so most likely this light will outlast me. So far I have only installed one light over my work station and it's quite bright with 5000 Lumen of light which is the equivilent to about a 300 watt incandescent light while only using about 57 watts of power. Keep in mind the audio cable is only a little over 4 feet long so will have to space the lights fairly close to get sound from each. If using the Bluetooth feature you can sync with the first light then run the audio cable between shop lights if you want sound from a particular group or all the lights. In the box is the shop light, four sections of 13.4 inch long hanging chains, eight S hooks, a couple of ceiling hooks, and a audio cable. Up to 6 shop lights can be linked together, and each light comes with a 5'3" power cord so you can spread the lights out. This Honeywell 4 foot light comes in a handy 2-pack and features a Bluetooth speaker that syncs with other Bluetooth devices. I also happen to have these installed in an uninsulated garage and I'm curious how the bluetooth tech and speakers themselves hold up to heat, cold and humidity over time.īeen slowly replacing the fluorescent lights in my garage with LED shop lights. I'm not sure how sustainable that is and the instructions don't say one way or the other if the best thing to do is unplug the lights between use. One thing I am nervous about is the bluetooth tech, which stays on regardless if the lights are on or off. I used a simple zip tie to fold that all up together and secure for a much cleaner look. Depending on how close together these lights are, you will have a good deal of slack in both the power cord and the aux cable. You will want a couple items to clean up your install (at least I did.) First, I got some wiring staples to clean up the extension cord I used to power the lights and to get it up to the ceiling. That said, if you require a high quality sound experience, that is more so your issue, and shouldn't be expected of these speakers. It's not a theater experience but it's better than phone speakers and it doesn't have that 'tinny' low quality sound from really inexpensive speakers. The fact that they are LED is even better - low energy cost, no obnoxious fluorescent bulbs to have to manage and no flickering issues. I was actually a bit shocked when they first came on. Better yet, the speakers are out of the way and not anywhere near my tools or work. I walk into my garage and the music pretty much starts playing. These lights have the speaker integrated right into the light, hardwired and ready to go. I also don't like having to fumble around with speakers, recharge them, etc. These lights are simply awesome! When I get into my garage, I just want to be able to work and I don't like things that aren't necessary taking up space. When I finally got around to replacing my old 48” fluorescent fixture the two bad bulbs miraculously came back to life as I was prying off the lens cover so I placed my garage shop light install on hold for the time being! Definitely not a deal breaker for me though. The only real issue I have with these lights are the clear “bulb” lenses - a translucent cover would lessen the glare a little bit. The built in speaker paired easily enough with my phone for background music but don’t expect much volume or a surround sound experience. On paper these bulbs offer almost 20% more lumens than than the old ones they are replacing (not to mention the energy savings)!Ī short 4” pull chain provides on and off-ability. The light(s) are a double strip of individual LEDs each encased within a clear bulb style plastic housing for added protection in a “shop” or work space environment. This is a beefy fixture totally unlike several other flimsy painted stamped sheet steel fixtures I looked at. They appear to be well made out of a single piece of extruded aluminum that acts as both structural element (a very sturdy one) and the reflector. I ordered the Honeywell 4ft 50-Watt Equivalent Integrated LED Silver Bluetooth Shop Light 2-Pack Set as a replacement for the failing four lite fluorescent fixture in my garage.
